Ron Isler
Ron Isler was a three-sport star at New Dorp High School when he was struck and critically injured by a hit-and-run driver after a basketball game. He came back to hit .496 and .390 on the diamond, score four touchdowns in a game, and be named a Teen Magazine All-American. James Jenkins
James Jenkins, a multi-talented tight end and special teams star, played 10 seasons with the Washington Redskins, including eight straight without missing a game, and the 1992 Super Bowl. After catching 120 passes as a wide receiver at Curtis High School, Jenkins made the move to tight end and linebacker at Rutgers, where he wound up as the team’s leading receiver and Most Valuable Player.(Read more...)
Rich Kotite
Rich Kotite was a head coach for the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, guiding the Eagles to 10 and 11-win seasons in 1991 and 1992. A Little All-American at Wagner College, where he was the star of an undefeated team in 1964, Kotite played six NFL seasons as a tight end for the Vikings, Giants and Steelers, before embarking on a 20-year coaching career.(Read more...)
Dino Mangiero
Curtis High School standout Dino Mangiero, a third-team All American and All-East defensive end at Rutgers, played six seasons as a nose guard with the Kansas City Chiefs, Seattle Seahawks, and New England Patriots of the National Football League. Karl McCoy
Karl McCoy was a gifted receiver – a 6-7 high jumper who led Staten Island in receptions as a sophomore and senior at Port Richmond High School, and doubled as a running back his junior year – and an even better defensive back. In a truncated career at Penn State, McCoy lettered as a freshman, and started the next year.
