Jack Hynes
Jack Hynes was among the best players in what passed for American professional soccer in the 1940s and 50s, despite being seriously wounded at the Battle of the Bulge in World War Two. Nick Kvasic
Nick Kvasic was the first soccer captain at Port Richmond High School and a three-year starting midfielder at Wagner College; but his greatest contributions were as a coach, referee, and ambassador for the game. John Wolyniec
John Wolyniec rewrote the soccer record book at Monsignor Farrell High School and at Fordham University, where he led the country in goals, scoring 75 in 77 games, and was an All-American and Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. Wolyniec led the MLS MetroStars with 10 goals in 2004, two seasons after winning the championship game MVP in the A-League, and played in two matches for the U.S. national team.(Read more...)
